Making your own Documentary

Do try to watch as many different kinds of documentaries as you can. There are loads to choose from including wildlife, lifestyle, current affairs, music etc.........
Think about how you are going to construct your own. Will you be presenting to camera, or maybe using a voiceover? Or both? What will you be saying about your subject and how? Will you use photos and archive footage? Will you add music? What type? Do you need to plan 'set scenes', interview questions? Do you need to arrange appointments to meet people? When you think you are ready please write up a Proposal for your documentary (see Moodle: Unit 20)

Meanwhile, here's another trailer for a famous documentary that you might want to watch.

and another - pretty amazing one!

Lastly - something you might want to consider doing - A Life In The Day.

Participatory Documentaries.

In this documentary Morgan Spurlock, the creatior and director puts himself at the centre of the film and is the focus of the whole text. It is his voice you hear, his opinions and he dictates what you see and hear. In this respect it is very much a Participatory Documentary, he has set out to influence your opinion and everything hasb been chosen to represent his viewpoint and is told by him.
